It’s been a while since our last posting, so let’s start with a welcome back to our readers. Welcome back! We’ve had some major progress in the past months and this is our intro to inform our supporters of what we’ve been up to and WILL be up to in the near future. We at Hartfactory are turning a new digital page and invite you to partake in a more intimate view of who we are and what we’re about.
To start, we have our blog–which you are reading now–to post our most exciting news dealing with: events/sponsoring, studio happenings, new work, artist interviews, project how-to’s, insights into culture, social collaboration and opinions.
Some brief news we can’t wait to tell you about:
Events/sponsoring – There are a few current and upcoming events that we’ll dive into with separate posts, but you should be aware of now.
Beacon Arts Building presents (under direction of Renee Fox) “Ghost Stories: Happenings, Hauntings, & Curiosities” October 14th – November 7th 2010.
Taste of Abbot Kinney / Inside Out Arts. DINE, DRINK, and DANCE in support of Inside Out Community Arts – Sunday, October 24, 3 PM – 7 PM
Studio -We’ve acquired an amazing newly renovated studio space in Inglewood, California in a section of the Beacon Arts Building. The BAB is a sweeping 32,000 square foot complex dedicated to the creative and professional artistic community. Located at 808 N. La Brea Avenue (just south of Centinela Avenue), the Beacon Arts Building stands poised to be a dynamic and exciting new artistic center for creativity in the already thriving Inglewood community. We will be keeping you informed of current and future gallery shows and happenings hosted here!
New Work - We are showcasing some great illustrations and painting by Long Beach Artist Jerrell Conner, with his continuing work within the Revelations series. Jerrell has been showing recently at several events around Southern California with the Derekstar artist collective. Also, sculptural works by Colin Roberts are now on display in the studio and include a couple of collaborations that are soon to hit our retail website. Color and form delight in Colin’s use of materials and his uncompromising attention to detail.
Artist Interviews – Dealing with our artist interviews, we want to go beyond simple images and text to incorporate audio and video with those articles. Monthly interviews of local artists will spotlight the work being produced in and outside of the Hartfactory Studio.
Process - At Hartfactory we spend a lot of time developing our own screens for our t-shirt printing and fine art reproduction. Many of you might be curious about how we get from someone’s hand drawn artwork to a usable screen ready for print production. It really is not that mysterious of a process, but it does require a delicate hand and a sharp eye for details; skills that come only with lots of practice. How is it done exactly? You’ll have to visit us in the future for an insider’s look at each step. Sorry for the tease, but we can’t give out all the goods just yet!
We look forward to sharing more updates with you. Be sure to check us out frequently on facebook and our website!
